Microbiotic is what Udo's calls these. You may know them as probiotics — here is why the word differs.

This product contains traces of milk and soya, which are used in the manufacturing process. If your child has a milk or soya allergy, this is not suitable for them. Please check with your health visitor or GP if you are unsure.
Why B. infantis matters here
Bifidobacterium infantis is, as the name suggests, the species most associated with the gut of young infants — particularly those who were breastfed and born vaginally. Its relative abundance typically falls away as a child grows and their diet widens.
It appears in this formula at 15% and in none of the other Udo's Choice microbiotics. That is the substantive reason this is a separate product rather than a smaller dose of the children's blend, and it is why the age boundary sits at five.

Why a powder and not a capsule
Small children cannot swallow capsules, and a capsule that has to be opened every time is a capsule you are paying to package twice.
The powder measures out and stirs into breast milk, formula, cooled boiled water, yoghurt or purée. Nothing warm. Heat destroys live bacteria, so it goes into milk that has already cooled, not milk you are about to warm.

Which figure to compare
Infant microbiotics are often marketed on a headline cell count that is the figure at manufacture — the highest the product will ever carry. Udo's declares both: 3 billion at manufacture, 1.7 billion guaranteed at expiry. The second is what is actually there on the last day of shelf life.
FOS-free
Many infant microbiotics include fructooligosaccharides as a prebiotic. FOS is a fermentable carbohydrate. There is none added here.
How to use it
One 1g serving daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Mix into cool breast milk, formula, cooled boiled water or food. Never into anything warm or hot.
Refrigerate after opening.
Common questions
Can I add it to a warm bottle?
No. Let the milk cool first — heat destroys live bacteria.
My child has a milk allergy.
This product contains traces of milk from the manufacturing process and is not suitable. Speak to your GP or health visitor.
From what age?
It is formulated for children up to age 5. For a newborn or a child with any medical condition, ask your health visitor or GP first.
My child has just turned 5.
The Children's Blend covers 5–15, in a capsule that can be opened into cool food. It does not contain B. infantis.
Why is the cell count lower than the adult products?
Because it is formulated for infants. A higher number is not better at this age.
Does it taste of anything?
It is a fine, largely neutral powder in a maltodextrin base.
